DJ Gil Keo (aka The Dancing DJ) is one of the highest rated, most dynamic and interactive mobile entertainers we've seen in 30 years. Gil is also an artist, writer, poet, dance instructor and singer. He is also bi-lingual, for those looking for a well spoken Spanish / English DJ. As a dance instructor he has taught many couples to up their game for their "first dance" and can also teach Merengue and Salsa dancing for those who love Latin style music. Gil started training at the age of 16 in different styles of dance ranging from Urban Street Dances such as Popping, Locking and Break-dancing, to Latin styles such as Salsa, Merengue, Mambo, Samba, Cha-Cha, and Rumba, to Ballroom styles like Foxtrot, Waltz, American Tango, Swing and Lindy Hop. A survivor of childhood physical/emotional abuse and bullying—Gil has, for over fifteen years, contributed to "breaking the cycle" by working with children of all ages to better their self image through expressions in art and dancing and as a personal defense trainer of women and children.
For the last four years he has donated his time to survivors of rape as well as victims of abuse to empower and teach them how to defend themselves. Using the lessons he has learned throughout his life-long journey and training combined with an amazing imagination he has produced a work dealing with this delicate and serious subject matter, in a tactful but forthright manner. The book is called "The Tale of Haven's Brave."
The novel is designed to help children and teens to protect themselves against all kinds of abuse from bullying to sexual assault. Told in the form of a “Fairy-tale” Haven's Brave explores real world situations in the safety of a fictional setting to show how we can end the vicious cycle of rape and abuse for generations to come by using a fictional story based on real people and events known by, and including, the author himself, to educate adults and children through story-telling, and metaphors on preventing abuse before it begins or dealing with it if has already happened.
